“We choose what attitudes we have right now. And it’s a continuing choice.” – John Maxwell
There is a dangerous enemy of progress in very many aspects of our lives: career, family, relationships, spirituality et al. Have you ever wanted to start something, or grow something, and this very convincing voice from within you started doubting the possibility of any positive results? Yes! That is called self-sabotage. Unlike other sources of demotivation that come from outside us- from friends, colleagues et cetera, self sabotage is very vile as it comes from within our thoughts. It often manifests as statements such as ” what if I fail?” “what if no one believes me?” “What if they make fun of me?” As you may know, it requires a lot of intention and strength to fight negative thoughts from within.

The reason why very many people feel stuck and in stagnation in various areas of their lives is not because of critics from without. Many of them are going through the struggle of willing to achieve something while battling discouraging thoughts from within themselves. In fact, very many people will be very supportive of progress of other people but when it comes to supporting themselves with affirmations from within, it becomes hard. If you have been experiencing self sabotage, you are not alone. It will take a lot of intentional will to overcome it, but with prayer and reading God’s word, we are more than conquerors.
Philippians 4:8 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” No matter what your external surroundings tell you, let positive and faith-filled thoughts be overflowing from within you- so much that nothing anyone can say will move your faith in God making things happen for you.
