Prayer Focus: The grace to gain a reminder that her own visions will be established at God’s appointed time

Daughters Novena Day 19 Video

I think that possibly the worst thing about Sarah’s actions in Genesis 16 is that, despite her best efforts; scheming and plotting, the vision (regarding Abraham becoming a father of nations) was not accomplished through Abraham and Hagar. Yes, they did have a son, but he was not the chosen vessel through which God wanted to establish His promises to Abraham. God had not chosen Hagar. He had in fact chosen Sarah, which was confirmed later through Isaac’s birth.

All the heartache of watching her husband form a relationship with another woman; all that subsequent rivalry and conflict between the two women (Genesis 16:4-6; Genesis 21:8-10) and for what? God to have His way and establish His authority as sovereign anyway! Probably the most hurtful to Sarah was that the child which Hagar bore was a constant reminder of her lack of faith, perceived inadequacies and wasted time and energy in trying to play God.

Through Sarah we gain a reminder that our own visions will be established in God’s appointed time. We may have plans in your heart, like Sarah did, but “it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”. All we can do is surrender to Him; stay faithful to the vision that He has given us and He will be faithful to complete it.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I know that Your Word does not return void and I’m believing great things for my daughter today:

1. Let her learn early in life that to obey You, God, is the best way to the life her heart truly desires (1 Samuel 15:22).

2. May she find comfort in Your ability, God, to reach her, hold her and rescue her (2 Samuel 22:17-18).

3. Let her find confidence in You, God, even when hard times come and she doesn’t know what to do, by keeping her eyes fixed on You (2 Chronicles 20:12).

4. May she keep herself under control and not give full vent to people and situations that anger her (Proverbs 29:11).

5. Let her walk in the security of Your assigned worth to her.

Give her a strong work ethic and health to accomplish all her tasks. Give her a heart that desires to extend her hand to those in need. Protect her for the right husband, a man of respect and godly honor.

And let her be a woman of joy and laughter whose Christ-centered character is what makes her most beautiful (Proverbs 31). May we both grow in our relationship with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Daily Prayer of Blessing

My daughter, you are my child whom I love; with you I am well pleased. I love you with all my heart, and so does God!

I speak all good blessings into you as a daughter; I call your spirit to life, breaking every curse spoken or send against you.

I speak life into your soul that you may rise up and not fall down.

May you be surrounded with quality friends:

who build-up instead of tear-down

who inspire godliness, instead of provoke evil

who are faithful to you, rather than flighty

who are passionate about you, not apathetic towards you,

who don’t compare

who are not vain

who will encourage you to guard your heart

I give to you the blessing of my prayers. You are worthy, you are holy, you are blessed, you are wanted, you are loved.

I love you and bless you with the promises of God. You are His and have been set apart from the world for His Holy purposes.

I bless you with God’s everlasting love, wisdom, peace, and joy.

I bless you with sexual purity, marital fidelity, and many children of your own.

May God continue to keep His hand of favor and prosper you in all that you do, and may you serve our Lord Jesus Christ all the days of your life. Amen.
