On the fifth day of our 40 Days Novena for Family Deliverance, we invoke the name of our Good Deliverer God. This name encapsulates the essence of God’s perfect goodness, kindness, benevolence, and goodwill toward all creation. As we reflect on His goodness, we turn to Psalm 119:65-72, which beautifully illustrates God’s loving guidance and deliverance. Psalm 119:65-72 states:“

You have dealt well with your servant, O Lord, according to your word. Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. You are good and do good; teach me your statutes. The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts; their heart is unfeeling like fat, but I delight in your law. It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.”

This passage reminds us that God’s goodness is steadfast and that He deals with us according to His word, which is filled with promises of deliverance and guidance. Even in times of affliction, God’s goodness shines through as He uses our trials to draw us closer to Him and to teach us His ways. The psalmist acknowledges that it is through these experiences that he has learned to keep God’s word and appreciate the value of His statutes.

God’s role as the Good Deliverer is evident in His constant presence in our lives, guiding us through our difficulties and leading us toward a deeper understanding of His love and commandments. His goodness is not just about making our lives comfortable; it is about shaping us into the people He has called us to be, even through challenges and adversities. As we reflect on the goodness of our Deliverer God, we are encouraged to trust in His benevolence and to believe that He is always working for our good, even when circumstances seem unfavorable. His kindness and goodwill are unwavering, and He delivers us not only from physical dangers but also from spiritual and emotional afflictions.

Let us embrace the goodness of God and allow His deliverance to transform us. Let us learn from our trials and trust that in His goodness, God is always leading us toward a greater purpose and a deeper relationship with Him.

Prayer: Good Deliverer God, we thank You for Your perfect goodness and benevolence toward us. Even in times of affliction, You are with us, guiding and delivering us according to Your word. Help us to trust in Your goodness and to learn from the trials we face. Strengthen our faith and remind us that Your law is more precious than gold and silver. May Your kindness and goodwill be ever-present in our lives as we walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
